Green synthesis of Halloysite-Silver Nanocomposite: using Acalypha australisExtract, anti-E. coli effect and gene expression
Abstract
Bacterial resistance is a major crisis in the area, leading to increased rates of morbidity and mortality in humans. The use of nanomaterials as a procedure to replace/co-use traditional treatments is a trend in microbiology. In this study, Acalypha australis extract was selected for the green-ultrasound assisted synthesize of Ag-Halloysite (NSH) nanocomposite. NSH was characterized by using XRD and TEM while the extract was characterized for its component using GC-Ms. The results demonstrated the presence of halloysite nanorod that decorated with silver nanoparticles. NSH was investigated for its effectiveness in reducing gene expression for fimH and mrkD genes of pathogenic E. coli . A. The results demonstrate that NSH markedly reduced the gene expression of fimH and mrkD . In conclusion, NSH played a crucial role in inhibiting the biofilm of E. coli via a potential fimbrial formation inhibition-dependent mechanism.
