Evaluating The Perceptions of Non‑Surgical Aesthetic Clinic Visitors on the Use of a Chatbot for Beauty Advice: A Cross‑Sectional Study in Palestine
Abstract
Background The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly chatbots, within healthcare, including non-surgical aesthetic medicine, is on the rise. This study evaluates the effectiveness and usability of AI-powered chatbots in enhancing patient care and user satisfaction by providing trustworthy, high-quality guidance to both males and females aged 18–60 in selected clinics in Palestine. Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted with 398 participants who interacted with a beauty chatbot. Data were collected on demographics, chatbot usability, satisfaction, and loyalty using validated scales. Statistical analyses were performed using IBM SPSS Statistics 21 to assess relationships between variables. Results The study found a high Cronbach's Alpha for usability measures (0.928), indicating strong internal consistency. The quality of chatbot functions (B = 0.691, p < 0.001) and quality of conversation (B = 0.230, p = 0.001) were significant predictors of user recommendations. Additionally, demographic factors such as age and education level significantly influenced perceptions of usability. Conclusion The findings underscore the potential of AI chatbots to enhance user experiences in non-surgical aesthetic medicine, highlighting the necessity for continued development and validation. Addressing usability challenges will improve patient engagement and satisfaction, positioning chatbots as valuable tools in the beauty industry. The strong correlation between usability and loyalty points to the need for further research into the design and functionality of beauty chatbots, particularly concerning specific services like anti-aging treatments and hair restoration, which significantly impact user loyalty. Developers are encouraged to integrate user feedback into the design process, focusing on interaction quality and tailoring functionalities to meet users' specific needs and intents in the beauty sector. Future studies should explore the long-term impacts of chatbot usage and the integration of advanced AI capabilities across diverse cultural contexts.
