Multigenic Cognitive Enhancement in Rattus Norvegicus (Conceptual Research Proposal)
Abstract
This is a conceptual research proposal exploring the potential for multigenic cognitive enhancement in Rattus norvegicus as a translational model for non-human primate conservation. Building upon prior FOXP2 gene studies, this proposal introduces a humanized gene stack (FOXP2, CNTNAP2, SRPX2, KIAA0319, DCDC2) to investigate proto-linguistic behavior, cortical reorganization, and symbolic learning in rats. The framework outlines advanced behavioral and neural assays, ethical review protocols, and a long-term vision for enhancing communicative capacity in cooperative primate species under controlled conditions. Emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary collaboration and open access to all data, protocols, and visualizations.Researchers in genetics, neuroscience, primatology, and bioethics are invited to review, critique, and refine the proposal. Public commentary is welcome to foster responsible innovation and informed debate on cognitive enhancement and conservation.
